As a fan of a wide variety of popular (and not-so-popular) music from the 1950s (and sometimes even earlier) up through the present, one of my bucket list projects for years has been to put together a list of my 100 favorite songs of all time. At some point I decided that, once I got around to figuring that out, I could put it out on a blog, for the infinitesimally small proportion of the Internet world that might be interested. So, here we are. While the Top 100 will be a major focus, I also plan to post on a variety of other musical (and occasionally non-musical) topics, in which you may or may not be interested. (If a particular posting doesn’t ring your bell, you’re only a few clicks away from a dancing cat video on YouTube.)

Comic of the Day #2 – June 5, 2016 (originally June 8, 1969)

Peanuts – “I’m A Terrible Manager”

Probably my favorite Peanuts ever. Almost makes me wish I hadn’t retired, so I could put this one up on my office door.

June 7, 2016 – Frederick Keys 8, Carolina Mudcats 4 – Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium

Umpires: HP: Chris Scott. 1B: Chris Marco.
Weather: 81 degrees, sunny.
Wind: 5 mph, R to L.
First pitch: 11:03 AM.
Time: 2:19.
Attendance: 5,711.

Section 207, Row J, Seat 1 – behind first base, second to the last row back in the second level (my usual Frederick “shade seats” were all taken)

Highlights – aided by some sloppy play by the visitors (3 errors for the game), the Keys struck for 2 runs in the first after their first 4 batters reached base … essentially put the game away with 5 more runs in the second, punctuated by a 3-run HR by right fielder Conor Bierfeldt … Keys starter Lucas Long allowed 3 runs in his 5 innings, while 3 relievers held the Mudcats to a single run over the final 4 frames while fanning 6

Other – grilled chicken wrap from the Kitchen Kreations stand was quite good … naturally there was a little rain starting in the middle of the 8th inning (enough to send most of the crowd heading for the exits, but not enough to delay the game) … STEM Day for Frederick County sixth-graders accounted for most of the unusually large weekday crowd (not a problem, except that the long lines at the sponsor booths that provided answers to some of the questions on the students’ worksheets meant that it was nearly impossible to navigate the center section of the concourse)
