A very, very solid top 10 from mid-October 1963: 1 SUGAR SHACK –Jimmy Gilmer and the Fireballs 2 BE MY BABY –The Ronettes 3 BLUE VELVET –Bobby Vinton 4 BUSTED –Ray Charles 5 CRY BABY –Garnet Mimms and the Enchanters 6 SALLY, GO ‘ROUND THE ROSES –The Jaynetts 7 MEAN WOMAN BLUES –Roy Orbison 8 DONNA THE PRIMA DONNA –Dion DiMucci 9 DEEP PURPLE –Nino Tempo and April Stevens 10 DON’T THINK TWICE, IT’S ALL RIGHT – Peter, Paul and Mary
Definitely a good week, even further down. My Boyfriend’s Back at 15, Heat Wave at 18, and It’s All Right (one of my all-time Impressions favorites) at 24.
Can I assume that at some point you've come across the 4 Seasons take on Don't Take Twice (released under the alias The Wonder Who?)? One of those things that you can never un-hear.
