Speaking of the pre-Beatles era, check out this Top Ten from this week in 1963 - a very, very solid list of hits: My 3-year older sister Fran (who soon after became a HUGE Beatle fan (she saw them in concert in '64 and '65) owned the #3, 4, and 5 45s, so I heard those A LOT. If you check out the Billboard top 40 from the week of July 27, of that year, you'll notice an amazing number of songs that still resonate. "So we tanned his hide when he died, Clyde, and that's it hanging on the shed."
