As a fan of a wide variety of popular (and not-so-popular) music from the 1950s (and sometimes even earlier) up through the present, one of my bucket list projects for years has been to put together a list of my 100 favorite songs of all time. At some point I decided that, once I got around to figuring that out, I could put it out on a blog, for the infinitesimally small proportion of the Internet world that might be interested. So, here we are. While the Top 100 will be a major focus, I also plan to post on a variety of other musical (and occasionally non-musical) topics, in which you may or may not be interested. (If a particular posting doesn’t ring your bell, you’re only a few clicks away from a dancing cat video on YouTube.)

Glenn Youngkin

“He’s Trump in a red vest.”

That’s how radio host John Fredericks summarized the new Virginia governor a few days ago, after conducting a radio interview with him.

Just to be clear, Fredericks (who was Donald Trump’s Virginia presidential campaign chairman in both 2016 and 2020) meant this as a compliment. He went on to say the following:

“He [earlier] got blasted by the whole Trump-ecosystem base [for being too moderate]. If he wants to run for something else or keep his coalition together, you simply can’t alienate us.”

NFL playoffs

“Yesterday’s pair of contests featured one game that neither team deserved to lose, following a game that neither team deserved to win.” – Rambling Rhoads, 1/24/2021

Also, from Jayson Stark:

The winning teams in the NFL this weekend:

          * team that got sacked 9 times (Bengals)

          * team that scored no offensive TDs (49ers)

          * team that blew a 27-3 second-half lead (Rams)

          * team that gave up 2 go-ahead TDs in the last 2 minutes (Chiefs)
