As a fan of a wide variety of popular (and not-so-popular) music from the 1950s (and sometimes even earlier) up through the present, one of my bucket list projects for years has been to put together a list of my 100 favorite songs of all time. At some point I decided that, once I got around to figuring that out, I could put it out on a blog, for the infinitesimally small proportion of the Internet world that might be interested. So, here we are. While the Top 100 will be a major focus, I also plan to post on a variety of other musical (and occasionally non-musical) topics, in which you may or may not be interested. (If a particular posting doesn’t ring your bell, you’re only a few clicks away from a dancing cat video on YouTube.)

Why tearing down Fauci is essential to the MAGA myth

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/why-tearing-down-fauci-is-essential-to-the-maga-myth/2021/04/05/b3e87740- 963c-11eb-a6d0-13d207aadb78_story.html

While this entire column by Michael Gerson is worth reading, I absolutely had to post a link to it just to slip in the following two quotes:

“Watching Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) debate science with Fauci during committee hearings is like watching Albert Einstein being disputed by his dry cleaner.”

And in conclusion: “Fauci is practicing epidemiology. His critics are practicing idiocy. Both are very good at their chosen work.”

B.B. Dickerson

https://www.nme.com/en_asia/news/music/war-co-founder-and-bassist-b-b-dickerson-has-died-2914416

Morris “B.B” Dickerson was an original member of the legendary funk/rock/soul band War, serving as vocalist (perhaps most notably on “The World Is A Ghetto”) and bassist.

Despite their accomplishments, War is STILL not a member of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Get with it, people!

Black voters matter

There’s been a lot in the news recently about the voting-suppression laws passed in Georgia and proposed in numerous other states. Barry Svrluga provided an incisive column in the Post concerning MLB’s decision to move this year’s All-Star Game out of Atlanta.
