As a fan of a wide variety of popular (and not-so-popular) music from the 1950s (and sometimes even earlier) up through the present, one of my bucket list projects for years has been to put together a list of my 100 favorite songs of all time. At some point I decided that, once I got around to figuring that out, I could put it out on a blog, for the infinitesimally small proportion of the Internet world that might be interested. So, here we are. While the Top 100 will be a major focus, I also plan to post on a variety of other musical (and occasionally non-musical) topics, in which you may or may not be interested. (If a particular posting doesn’t ring your bell, you’re only a few clicks away from a dancing cat video on YouTube.)

The times we live in

First off, the 20-minute joint press conference this afternoon with Davey Martinez and Joe Girardi is a must-watch:

Also worth noting, from ESPN:

“The Players Alliance, made up of more than 100 Black current and former MLB players, announced Thursday that its members will donate their salaries from Thursday's and Friday's games to the organization to support its efforts to combat racial inequality and aid Black families and communities affected by recent events.” The roster includes Josh Harrison, Howie Kendrick, and Andrew McCutchen (who’s on the Active Player Advisory Board). The Retired Player Advisory Board includes Ryan Howard and Jimmy Rollins.

You can check out the group’s website at https://theplayersalliance.com/. They do accept donations from non-members.

And in case you weren’t aware of it – I wasn’t until yesterday – Jackie Robinson Day for this year was rescheduled from April 15 to August 28 (tomorrow).

The message up on so many scoreboards says it all.
